The Library houses over 125,000 books, including many rare books and children’s books, and 3,000,000 manuscripts, including account books, diaries, and letters. These “voices from the past” help us understand the people and events of our state’s history.

Microfilm and microfiche readers and reader-printers; microprint opaque viewer. Photocopying is 25 cents per page. Some photocopying restrictions apply.

Genealogical Loan Collection

CHS’s Genealogical Loan Collection of more than 1,000 duplicate town histories and genealogies may be borrowed by Members of The Connecticut Historical Society and of the Society of Mayflower Descendants in the State of Connecticut. Borrowing period: one month. Charges: $5 per volume (limit 3 volumes; borrower pays return postage). Catalogue available: $7 plus $3.00 postage & handling.
