Print Collections

The Print Collection of The Connecticut Historical Society includes works ranging from the 18th century through the present day. The early period is represented in works by Amos Doolittle, Richard Brunton, and Abner Reed. 19th-century holdings are especially strong with numerous works by Connecticut lithographers, including over 1000 prints produced by the Kellogg brothers in Hartford between 1830 and 1870. The Print Collection also houses CHS's outstanding collection of birds-eye views, large, map-like prints which provide a wealth of information about the appearance of the state in the late 19th and early 20th century. Late 19th and early 20th century artists' prints include views of Connecticut by Childe Hassam, J. Alden Weir, Kerr Eby, Armin Landeck, and Martin Lewis.
