Contribute to Connecticut’s History

The Connecticut Historical Society, a 501(c)3 tax exempt organization, relies on contributions from individuals, foundations, businesses, and corporations to fund our operations and services. If you would like to make a tax-deductable donation, please enter the amount and then click on the donate button below or call the Development Office at 860-236-5621, ext. 278.

Your gift directly supports our mission to inspire and foster a life-long interest in history through exhibitions, programs, and Connecticut related collections. Thank you very much for your generous support.

Become a Member

Over 1,250 members enjoy our museum, library, and programs. You can too! Simply complete the form and we’ll send you a membership application. Members receive free admission to the museum galleries and library, our newsletter, free or discounted admission to programs, activities and trips, and invitations to receptions, special events, and the annual meeting. There are many different membership categories, including special memberships for families, students, seniors and out-of-state residents.

As a volunteer, you can make new friends and help us complete important projects. Volunteers at the CHS give tours, catalog historical materials, plan events and more. If you think you might like to become part of our family, please email Janet Ward or call (860) 236-5621, outlining your specific interests.

Gain real-world experience while having fun! Internships are available throughout the year, and are tailored to match your specific interests. For more information, please call (860)236-5621 or contact Janet Ward.

Interdistrict Program

In cooperation with the Capitol Region Education Council, the CHS partners fourth and fifth grade students and teachers from urban and suburban school districts for a series of museum visits and educational programs. Learn more.

Most of the items we collect are given to us by individuals and families—people who want to make sure Connecticut’s story, and their own, are never forgotten. Your grandfather’s tool chest or your aunt’s graduation photo can be as important as a rare piece of 18th-century furniture. Anything that can help us preserve the memories and experiences of Connecticut’s diverse people is valuable. Please call us at (860) 236-5621 or email Susan Schoelwer if you think that you have something special that you would like to make sure is preserved.
