Get in the holiday spirit with two festive programs this Saturday AND get some holiday shopping done too!

Shop CHS.

The Connecticut Historical Society Museum Store has a new look and hundreds of new items, just in time for holiday shopping! You'll find custom CHS products, locally-made gift items, Connecticut foods, specialty books and toys. Take a peek. Looking for something different to give this year? Let us help you create the perfect gift basket. You can even add a gift membership! There's plenty of free, easy parking, and the Store is open Monday-Saturday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. Email store@chs.org or call (860) 236-5621.

poppers150.jpgFamily Program:
Make your own Holiday Popper

Saturday, December 3
Drop-in between 10:00 am & 1:00 pm
FREE

Begin the holiday season with a bang! First invented by a London pastry chef in the 1840s, poppers (or "crackers") have become timeless favorites. Poppers make great gifts, holiday party favors, or New Year's Eve noisemakers. Traditional fillers, like candy, paper hats, and fortunes will be provided, or you may bring your own. For more information, call (860) 236-5621 x222 or email Erin Kania.

northernhospitality.jpgBook Talk:

Northern Hospitality: Cooking by the Book in New England

Saturday, December 3 | 2:00 pm
FREE with general admission

Authors Keith Stavely and Kathleen Fitzgerald offer a lively overview of the 300-year history of New England cooks and cookbooks. Their illustrated talk highlights the major cookbooks, the people who wrote them, and a sample of recipes as cooked by the authors. Try a fruit-studded, yeasted "plumb cake," baked according to a 1796 recipe. Books are available for sale (makes a great gift!), and a signing will follow the talk. For more information, call (860) 236-5621 x209 or email Mary Muller.

And don't forget...
