colt_dome_200.jpgLecture:
William Hosley, Sam & Elizabeth: Legend and Legacy of Colt's Empire

Wednesday, November 28
5:30 pm | FREE

Sam and Elizabeth Colt's romance has become a legend, but the impact of their lives on Hartford's industrial and social history is very real. Learn how the success of Colt's Amory and its model of industrial technology changed not only the firearms and machine tool industries, but the world of work in factories throughout the nation. After Sam's premature death, Elizabeth used the wealth and power of Colt to pursue her interests in art, architecture, religion, social services, and civic harmony and to assume a role in public life few women of her generation could imagine. Join historian Bill Hosley, Principal, Terra Firma Northeast, as he retells the legend and explores the legacy of one of Hartford's first power couples. To reserve your seat for this popular event, please call (860) 236-5621 x289 or email Jenny Steadman.
