Recipient of the Connecticut League of History Organizations 2008 Award of Merit. 2,973 people were unimaginably lost as a result of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Among those victims, 152 were Connecticuts own. The CHS presents a special traveling exhibition that looks at how Connecticuts citizens have responded and reflected on this contemporary tragedy. The exhibit includes the Connecticut Remembers Memorial Board, photographs, memory objects, audio/video stations, and Connecticuts 9/11 Memorial Library. This exhibit will travel every fall until 2010. If your institution, organization, or company is interested in hosting this important exhibit, download a pdf document detailing the exhibits content, components, and spacial requirements. Venues will be listed as they are confirmed. Presented with the support of Liz and Steven Goldstone and the Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism. September 11, 2001: Connecticut Responds and Reflects will be installed in the following venues and admission is free. Connecticuts 9/11 Memorial Library ![]() This archival collection honors the lives of Connecticuts 152 victims. Each binder has photographs, information, and materials pertaining to the life of a victim.
Where were you on 9/11? If you would like to offer your story and be considered for an interview, please contact us at exhibits@chs.org. These interviews are available to listen to in our Library.
Soon after 9/11, the East Brooklyn, CT, Fire Department painted this sign and posted it outside their fire station to help raise money for a relief fund. In October 2006, they generously donated the sign to the CHS.
